I'm having a hard time remembering what I used to like to eat, except that chocolate chip shortbread came to mind, so I made some tonight.

The days are dark the nights are white

mysteries of depths are muted set in icicles

afraid to step on the slippery questions,

how do we grasp the answers?

For my cousin Lori,

You and I saw a meteorite fall to the forest. We didn't really know what it was, we don't know where it landed, and we never went back to look. 

Lori, at 38 you disappeared, having died alone in your sleep and left us baffled. I never saw an undertaker work so hard to glue the pieces of a family together.

Who thought up these typography terms? 

These terms make me pause seeing as between the two of us, I'm the widow and she's the orphan. Even in these days, it seems unusual to be walking this path. 

Wonder what it was like in the early days of typesetting  for real-life widows and orphans? Were there superstitions? Where they to be feared?
